We ,romanians are Eastern Europeans who speak a Latin-based Romance language similar to Italian. The Romanians descend primarily from a mixture of indigenous Dacians, Roman soldiers and colonists who conquered the Dacians and intermarried/assimilated them, and to a certain extent from Goths, Huns, Slavs, Cumans, and others who traversed the territory that became Romania in the centuries after Roman rule.
Romanian is a Romance language. It is a direct daughter language of Latin. In some ways, it is closer to Latin than the other major Romance languages - French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Catalan. For example, of all the major ones, only Romanian retains a case system for nouns - a primary component of Latin.
Whether or not Romanians would be considered Latino depends on your definition of ‘Latino’. There is no set definition for the term.
Some say it includes only Spanish-speaking people from Mexico southward in the Americas - or those of that ancestry.
Some say it includes all in that area (and their descendents) who speak a Latin-based language. That adds the Brazilians (Portuguese) and some of the old French colonies (Haiti, Martinique, Guadeloupe, etc.)
Some say it includes all those, plus those from Spain and Portugal plus their descendents.
Some say it’s all those plus Italians.
Some say it’s all who (or whose ancestors) speak a Romance language.
